Starting from October 2016 I work as a postdoctoral researcher in the Laboratoire de Phonétique et Phonologie (LPP) of the CNRS and Université Sorbonne Nouvelle, Paris 3. I conduct research in articulatory phonetics. Here in Paris I am involved in several scientific projects: (a) the French ANR Project ArtSpeech for the development of articulatory phonetic synthesis to which I contribute with my scientific knowledge regarding the interaction between voice source and the speech sound articulators; (b) the investigation of the phonetics phenomena of the Ruund language; (c) non‐invasive (external‐lighting and sensing) photoglottographic (ePGG) technique. Currently, I also am involved with the organization of the 7th edition of the “Journées de Phonétique Clinique” conference which will be held in Paris, France on June 29-30, 2016.
From 2014 to 2016 I was a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Head and Neck Surgery of the David Geffen School of Medicine, University of California, Los Angeles. I conducted research in various topics about voice quality production, acoustics and perception. Here some examples of the projects I was involved in while at UCLA: (a) Developing the UCLA psychoacoustic perceptually-validated model of voice quality; (b) Impact of the interaction between vocal fold biomechanic variations and upper vocal tract resonances on the perception of voice quality; (c) Principal investigator of an international research project on the “Vocalizations in non-human primate leadership“; (d) Physical modeling of vocal folds; (e) Collecting political speech corpora in Mandarin Chinese, Korean, American English, American Spanish.
In January 2014 I achieved an international double program doctorate in Linguistics (University of Grenoble, France) and in Psychology (Università degli Studi Roma Tre, Italy) with a dissertation on the “Charismatic Voice in Political Speech”.
